Bio
I am a doctoral researcher at the University of Jyväskylä and a member of the MPOWER project (The Power of Music for Sport & Physical Activity). In my research, I explore how music can support sports and physical activity motivation and adherence across diverse populations, combining elements from music psychology and music information retrieval.
Previously, I completed a master's in Music and Science at the University of Jyväskylä, with a research focus on music and neuroscience. My thesis focused on investigating how tempo fluctuations can impact brain activation, through fMRI imaging. Through my studies, I had the opportunity to learn more about how music can enhance our lives and well-being. At the same time, I focused on developing my skills in multidisciplinary music research, learning methods of data collection and analysis. My participation in multiple research projects throughout my studies, including the "Rhythm of Life" at the University of Jyväskylä, has enhanced further my knowledge and research experience.
Beyond research, I completed a bachelor's degree in music at the European University of Cyprus, where I specialized in jazz and popular music. Throughout my studies, I developed skills in teaching, recording, and composing while specializing in voice performance.
In my free time, I enjoy doing sports, such as American football and Olympic weightlifting, playing video games and experimenting with other forms of art, such as painting and clay.
